Wood turned bowls from foraged Hawthorn timber with an ebonized pattern. Ebonizing is a chemical reaction process between natural wood tannins and iron acetate. This reaction causes the wood fibres to turn black. The quality of Hawthorn wood makes it unusually silky to the touch and finding it in sizes large enough to turn bowls is very rare.
